​As a part of our mission to create a network of STEM learning opportunities, we are committed to increasing the number of women and people of color pursuing STEM learning and careers.

​WHY EQUITY IN STEM EDUCATION?

STEM skills increase a person's employability and command higher wages. This makes STEM education a vital component in helping underserved populations change their circumstances.

Whats more, there is a shortage of skilled workers for STEM disciplines like chemists, computer scientists, engineers and architects. Simply increasing the enrollment of women and people of color in STEM disciplines could fill this employment gap.

OUr approach to STEM equity

The time is now to address STEM equity – access to quality STEM enrichment programs and opportunities for underrepresented populations. ​The STEM Alliance is doing this with a three pronged approach:

Engage more girls in STEM learning with:
  • Girls Do programs
  • Gender-inclusive programming
Create digital equity through device ownership, internet connectivity & digital skills training through: Provide access to STEM programs to a diverse population, currently underrepresented in STEM fields
